abstract="Rupture of the small bowel with nonpenetrating abdominal trauma occurs in one-third to one-fourth of all abdominal injuries. Perforation of the bowel can result from injuries of crushing, bursting or tearing type. The symptoms are those associated with peritoneal irritation.
