abstract="Urban streets in German cities often have a long history. In particular, streets in the former German Democratic Republic require a sensitive design approach, with consideration of the difficult superposition of two different social and political systems with different theories of town planning. Thus, these streets provide very good examples of historical consideration in context-sensitive design. This article considers the Friedrichstrasse and the Landsberger Allee in Berlin, two examples of these kinds of urban streets with highly complex histories.<p />",
