abstract="The government assigns a budget for rehabilitating abandoned mines. While it is usually impossible to accomplish a total rehabilitation within a limited budget, we will show how to achieve the best possible allocation of funds. We present our solution in two stages. First, we describe a simple solution which is already a good approximation to the best solution. Then we outline a solution which is the best within the precision of any expert's ability to judge the cost and the benefit of the undertaken remedial actions.<p />",
