abstract="This paper deals with the behavioral analysis of skid steer vehicles (SSVs). The basic turning characteristics of SSVs were clarified using a transfer function of a two-degrees of freedom vehicle model. In addition, the relationship between changes in the turning radius and vehicle speed at different acceleration/deceleration values, as well as the relationship between the input yaw moment and lateral acceleration at different vehicle speeds were clarified by an analysis of quasi-steady state cornering. It was concluded that SSVs have over-steer characteristics in any situation. A full vehicle simulation model showed that the cornering performance of SSVs could be improved by an input yaw moment controller.<p />",
