abstract="The kidnap and brutal murder of the eleven year-old daughter of a fire brigade officer in the town of Wassenaar in the Netherlands on September 29, 1980, resulted in the first ever appearance of a forensic odontologist as an expert witness in the history of Dutch law. This previously unpublished case is now reviewed for its historic significance, and also because it presents an interesting problem of interpretation of odontological evidence relevant to the identification of the offender, and raises issues concerning proper procedures for the utilisation of expertise in forensic odontology.<p /><p>Language: en</p>",
