abstract="Older adult residents of a convalescent hospital and members of a senior citizens center were given the opportunity to assume partial control over the activities program at their institutions. This resulted in both groups displaying greater degrees of satisfaction in the quality of the institution as well as in the quality of their own lives. Additionally, both sets of participants showed an increase in the belief in their ability to control forces that influence their lives.<p />",
