abstract="A continuous time model of the military competition between North and South Korea is developed and tested using data from 1960-1987. Several policy simulations are explored using this model. We find that there is considerable potential for moderate defence reductions on the peninsula. However, a strong South Korean economy is likely to accommodate real increases in both military and private consumption.<p />",
