abstract="Sociodemographic characteristics of current and fu- ture older cohorts are undergoing change. These changes have direct implication for those providing leisure programs to adults of retire- ment age. Examined are three issues affecting leisure and the a ing. i' The percentage of persons surviving to older ages has increase and more adults in their retirement years are enjoying improved health. A second issue explored is the trend toward earlier retirement and whether this will continue in the future. The last characteristic exam- ined is the increase in the level of formal education attained by the elderly. Discussion is focused on how these factors may affect lei- sure and the aging.<p />",
