abstract="The acoustical model of T. von Kármán and N. Moore is used to predict ballistic shocks produced by slender like projectiles traveling at supersonic speeds. This is a linear acoustics model which assumes the projectile as a linear distribution of point sources whose diameters vary according to the projectile shape profile. In this paper, an updated version of the T. von Kármán and N. Moore model which introduces nonlinear distortion of the N waves for describing shock overpressure and N wave duration is presented. Nonlinear distortions are introduced in the script in the form of the well known Whitham expression for N waves in the far field. Furthermore, the results of these computer simulations are validated using previously recorded waveforms obtained from real sniper weapons of different calibers.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>",
