abstract="The phenomenon of murder suicide in Australia is explored in this paper. The authors show that most murder suicides occur in the context of intimate or family relationships, and are more likely to involve firearms than are other categories of homicide. They suggest that policies designed to lessen the stresses of family dissolution, and limiting access to firearms may contribute to a reduction of murder suicide, as well as to a reduction of violence in general.<p />",
