abstract="The issue of gender and criminality is examined, drawing on official statistics. The purpose of the analysis is to reveal the types of offences for which young females are being apprehended and which may result in a finding of guilt. The statistics show that while females are being cautioned, charged and incarcerated less than males, female crime closely follows the patterns observed for males with respect to the types of crimes they commit.<p />",
