abstract="A group of 220 motorcycle accidents from Utah are categorized according to head injury severity and stepwise discriminant analysis is applied to the resulting groups. It is concluded from this analysis that speed is the most important factor related to head injury severity in motorcycle crashes. Of the total of 9 variables which are needed to differentiate among the groups, 4 are direct or indirect measures of speed, 2 are not explained, 2 are measures of impact severity, and 1 is a measure of impact surface.<p />",
