abstract="When evaluating the ability of a motorcyclist to stop in a given situation, the accident reconstructionist needs to select an appropriate braking rate, or drag factor. Though most modern motorcycles can approach or exceed 1 g on a dry clean pavement, most riders cannot, and expecting them to is unreasonable. This article presents some new data on rider capabilities, and compares it to previously published research on the capabilities of both novice and skilled riders.<p />",
