abstract="The objective of this model is to provide a mathematically based formula for residential roadway design that optimizes safety and efficiency and minimizes environmental impact. The model is based on two physical principles: two objectives can not occupy the same space at the same time; and, as the speed of the objects increases, the space between them must increase in order to prevent them from colliding. By applying mathematical descriptions of these two principles, the model developed strives to optimize roadway efficiency while preserving safety, quality of life and property values.<p />",
