abstract="Few state laws to encourage safe driving practices or to discourage unsafe behavior were passed in 2001. This article summarizes new and existing state legislation concerning safety belts, child restraints, motorcycle helmets, camera enforcement, drunk driving and graduated licensing. Driving under the influence/driving while intoxicated was one of the issues that saw the most legislative action in 2001, with 10 states reducing the blood alcohol content limit at or above which driving is illegal from 0.10 percent to 0.08 percent.<p />",
