abstract="In the previous issue of this journal, an excerpt from a federal report by Mark Flick entitled 'Trailer Antilock Brake Systems' was presented. The given data, however, showed only test speed and stopping distances and was presented in graphic form, making practical application of the presented information difficult. Therefore, the ARJ editor undertook a project to calculate test drag factors from selected data graphs. Because of the time commitment needed to conduct the analysis, only wet asphalt, and 'dry' and 'smooth' concrete were evaluated. While the epoxy and Jennite surfaces were tested to compare various system performances on slippery surfaces, these surfaces are not likely to be encountered in real world accident cases. Results show that trucks with a mixed system (ABS tractor/non-ABS trailer) performed erratically. Semis with the single modulator ABS systems on the trailer(s) developed slightly lower drag factors.<p />",
