abstract="This article describes Ice-Miser, a road ice prediction system which uses Global Positioning System (GPS) and geographic information systems (GIS) technologies to collect data on a single survey, combine it with land use and elevation data, to ultimately produce a high- resolution geographical parameter database. A forecast model then combines the geographical data with meteorological data to predict road conditions at typical spatial and temporal resolutions of 20 meters and 20 minutes. The article outlines the various advantages of the Ice-Miser approach.<p />",
