abstract="The city of Sugar Land, Texas installed a software application called the Chronomax school zone flasher system that enables city staff to program school zone flashers for an entire school year. This article describes how the flasher system works and its many attributes. The flashers are updated and adjusted on user-friendly software that runs on a standard personal computer. What used to take a full day twice a year can be accomplished in 30 minutes. The system has eliminated reprogramming and increased the consistency of flashers throughout the city. Sugar Land partnered with a local manufacturer that had developed a new approach to school zone flasher systems. The city is the first in Texas and one of the first in the nation to implement the Chronomax system.<p />",
