abstract="This research paper focuses on a problem that has had a long tradition and is now relevant for the present - the violence against women. In Romania, the preoccupation for this topic came from specialists in various fields of activity, politicians, the mass-media, the public and gained impetus between 1995 and 1996, mainly due to outside pressures, to the need of harmonization with the European and international spirit and standards regarding the protection and support granted to the victim, be it a child or a woman. All this took place in the context in which the policies of promoting women forced the re-evaluation of their relations with men as well as the re-evaluation of their social role and legal status. Under the circumstances, the purpose of this research paper is to promote women's rights and to reduce their vulnerability to violence situations by enabling their access to information and providing them with the chance to exercise their rights.<p />",
