abstract="This paper proposes a method of analysis of descriptive accident features that enables the comparison of highway accident patterns. The patterns are derived from cross tabulation of qualitative features of highway accidents and some ratios are defined to join together pieces of information coming from the patterns. Two aspects are considered: proportional similarity and structural similarity of highway accident patterns. The paper also provides an algorithm that makes use of the ratios and cluster analysis in identifying accident patterns predominant in the national highway network.<p />",
