abstract="This paper presents a novel method to estimate egomotion and detect obstacles in real-time, by using an image sequence taken from a moving observer. The method computes each component of optical flow by computation of one-dimensional optical flow. The authors have employed this method to build a motorcycle that moves around without falling down and avoids obstacles in real-time, without the aid of special hardware.<p />",
