abstract="In France, in traffic accidents one fourth of fatalities and one third of the severely injured involve two-wheelers. Among these, motor-cycles represent three-fourths and bicycles one fourth as concerns fatalities and respectively 5/6 and 1/6 as concerns severely injured. Head injuries are the most severe and constitute the major cause of death. This paper analyzes 39 cases of traumatic coma subsequent to two-wheel accidents; 20 two-wheelers were helmeted and 19 were not. All the patients were admitted to the neurological intensive care unit of the neurological hospital in Lyons. (TRRL)<p />",
