abstract="During traffic accident investigations, various measures are usually made of the accident site. Such measurements are often incomplete, however, thereby complicating accident reconstruction efforts. This paper describes a mapping technique that is based on the mathematical relationship between points in one plane, such as the roadway surface, and the projection of those points in another plane, namely of film image of that roadway surface. The technique can be applied to any photograph, providing for calibration points can be identified and measured on both the roadway and the film image of that roadway.<p />",
