abstract="The crash involvement of drivers and motorcyclists who were disqualified from driving was investigated using the Victorian database of reported injury crashes. Disqualified drivers and motorcyclists were overrepresented in more serious crashes and in crashes that occurred during recreational times, such as night time and weekends. They were also over-represented in single-vehicle crashes and crashes involving a collision with a stationary object. The possibility that this pattern represents an ongoing road safety risk, and the impact of this road-user behavior on the effectiveness of license cancellation and suspension penalties for serious traffic offenses are discussed.<p />",
