abstract="During 1983, 15% of admissions to the medical ward of Kaitaia Hospital resulted from ill effects of prescribed medication. Tranquillisers, digoxin, beta-blockers, other hypotensive drugs, and nonsteroid antiinflammatory drugs were the offending agents in 73% of these admissions. Drug induced illness makes an important contribution to the work-load of a general medical ward, and more care in the prescription of these classes of drugs might substantially reduce this contribution.<p /><p>Language: en</p>",
