abstract="The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between three personality variables (risk seeking, chronic self-destructiveness, and self-esteem) and traffic accidents and citations. Seventy-six students at a small midwestern university participated in this research. A negative relationship was found between self-esteem and actual accidents. The relationships of accidents to risk seeking and to chronic self-destructiveness failed to reach significance. In addition, a relationship between citations and chronic self-destructiveness that approached significance was found.<p />",
