Journal of Occupational Accidents, 5: 257-263.Work is reported on the mixing in a confined space of flammable or toxic gas clouds by the use of water sprays.A mathematical model describing the phenomena has been developed in order to predict the build-up of concentration following a release and the decrease of concentration when the release has finished.Laboratory experiments have been carried out on a fluodynamic scale-model. Samples were taken at different times and successively analyzed by gas-chromatography, using methane as a tracer. Experimental results obtained at different air flow rates obtained by the water are in good agreement with the proposed theory.<p />",
