abstract="This paper provides an overview of the response to domestic violence in the South African Jewish community, specifically that provided by Jewish Community Services, Johannesburg. The context is briefly presented in terms of the major challenges facing the South African community, the Jewish community per se, the impact of apartheid, the post-apartheid era, specifically the significance of crime, violence, and emigration. Brief reference is made to domestic violence within the general population. An in-depth review is given of the development of the domestic violence programme in the Jewish community, including a critical assessment of challenges and constraints to be addressed.<p />",
