abstract="This article focuses on the relatively new offense in the UK of familial homicide and contrasts the experience of two women whose children died violently at the hands of their partners and examines the actions of those public agencies that were associated with the events surrounding the children's deaths. In this way, the article demonstrates how far social work practice, in accommodating to the current of the times, may have moved away from the defense of disadvantaged women and failed to speak and act on their behalf.<p />",
