abstract="Abstract  Background.  Mental health services for older people in South Tyneside (UK) have adopted a person-centred service model that is ‘needs-led’. This service model uses Local Authority ‘Fair Access to Care Services’ (FACS) eligibility criteria to ensure fair and equal access to mental health services for older people in South Tyneside based upon their level of mental health need. This is achieved by the application of mental health specific criteria within the FACS framework.<p />",
