abstract="Tokyu Dwell Okegawa Village adopted the idea of &quot;Woonerf&quot; into the design of passages at housing developments to improve the living environment and realized the shared surface spaces for man and vehicle. Basic Woonerf concepts include: joint utilization of space by man and vehicle while freeing man from the danger of vehicle accident; use of road space not simply for traffic flow but also as living space; planned allocation of parking spaces for efficient utilization of land; and creation of a better landscape through vigorous planting and gardening efforts. This paper describes the process of this new environment and outlines the planning and technical problems of construction.<p />",
