abstract="This article was based on collected statistical materials in the field of traffic safety and the results of realized research in Poland and other countries of the world.  The safety of traffic was connected with the state of motorization, characterization of traffic, value of transport work, road networks, and the number of inhabitants. The results suggest that the state of road accidents in Poland is considerably higher than in the majority of countries with similar and higher degrees of motorization, especially where the ratio of the number of accidents per unit of transport work is taken as the measure of accident occurrence.<p />",
