abstract="The safety of suspension is rated by the handling performance and stability of the motor vehicle it is attached to as well as by its own durability. This report discusses how the introduction of the independent suspension system has helped improve the vehicle safety and what problems it has brought about, during the past technical logical development in this area. Then the report briefly describes the progress of studies on vehicle handling and the contribution they have made to the development of the suspension. This is followed by discussions on the corrosive action of salt -- a special problem concerning the durability of suspension -- and the progress and examples of remedies for such damage.<p />",
