abstract="In recent years, the issue of whether medical care should be given to impaired neonates has given rise to widely divergent views among practitioners of medicine, law and ethics. The general public also holds wide-ranging opinions on this subject. The divergence centres on whether medical care should be given to seriously impaired neonates, on whom should make decisions in these matters, and who should perform acts of euthanasia, in accordance with the current climate of opinion in China.
