The mentally ill represent a group of individuals at increased risk of suicide and, understandably, efforts have been made to ensure high quality care provision to prevent such acts. Audit of clinical practice is an important tool to monitor the efficacy of services and to improve their performance, and here the workings of a multidisciplinary suicide audit process within an inner city general mental health service are described.<p />",
