abstract="Based upon research on the reasons why the legal drugs alcohol and nicotine are consumed there was tried to find out whether the reasons for drinking and smoking, found in studies on different groups of people, are also valid for students or if there are other reasons because of the special way of life of the students. 146 students were asked with a questionnaire that was constructed for this study. Results show that some of the reasons found in other studies are also important to the students of the investigated sample, so the relation between consumption and health behavior or between consumption and behavior of the friends. Other reasons that are described in the literature could not be confirmed. Results suggest that drug researchers should not draw conclusions about small groups from very mixed samples but try to study the smoking and drinking behavior of homogeneous samples to identify possibilities for specific preventive or therapeutic help.<p /><p>Language: de</p>",
