abstract="The aim of the study was to obtain anthropometric data of adult wheelchair users. One hundred and one men and sixty-nine women with impairments in the lower extremities requiring the use of a wheelchair were tested. Eighteen anthropometric characteristics were measured in the sitting position. The results of the study constitute a set of basic anthropometric data for the design of workstations and home interiors for this group of users. These data can also be used for the needs of wheelchair design. The graphic method used for determining maximum upper extremities reaches showed that the workspace for this kind of population was smaller than that of the able-bodied population, and this should be taken into account when designing devices and machines for all users (the able-bodied and the disabled). Relevance to industryAnthropometric data obtained and maximum reaches of upper extremities can be used for designing workstations for wheelchair users.<p />",
