abstract="Many attempts have been made in the past to infer the mental model of an operator from his behaviour. Without explicit knowledge of the ongoing process this turned out to be impossible, but even with extensive knowledge this turned out to be very hard. Various attempts have been made to obtain information about the user's mental model in other ways. In this article an attempt will be made to explore the mental model by comparing his mental workload with a systems model of the ongoing process.<p />",
