abstract="Rape frequently produces serious systemic traumatic injuries associated with the assault. The emergency physician often examines and treats rape victims. A prepackaged &quot;sexual assault kit&quot; was devised containing only those items necessary to examine the patient and collect and label specimens or medicolegal evidence. A check-off form is used along with a method by which sealed containers can be presented to the authorities without disturbing the legal chain of evidence. Such a method of examining sexual assault victims speeds their examination and satisfies the legal authorities.<p />",
