abstract="Although violence affects everyone, men's health is disproportionately affected. To better understand the etiology of men's violence, it is essential to comprehensively examine the factors influencing the development and trajectories of violence perpetration and victimization. This review offers a broad perspective on the burden of violence for men and the characteristics of individuals, relationships, communities, and society that combine to influence men's experience with interpersonal violence, including child maltreatment, youth violence, intimate partner violence, and sexual violence. Men's experience with violence is influenced by physiological, emotional, and behavioral factors; relationships with family and peers; and social norms. In collaboration with professionals from other sectors, health professionals can help prevent or intervene in male's perpetration of violence across the lifespan through identification of factors that place men at risk and referral of male patients to evidence-based prevention and intervention resources.<p />",
