abstract="Recently, serious educational problems of bully, suicide, violence, murder and so on by children were pointed out. In order to cope with these problems, education to respect life has been advocated in many cases. To investigate how to acknowledge "death education" in school in view of respect education for life, we made a research on consciousness of death. Reasons why "death education" is necessary in school and its useful concrete points for exercise of "death education" were obtained. Difference was found between students and teachers. Results show that 1)conversation about death were lacking in the family, 2)educational materials about "death education" are ample at the age of school education, 3)children's mental state develop sufficiently to learn about death at the elementary stage, especially more after the fifth grade, 4)family member's death and mass media strongly influence children's senses concerning death, and 5)most people support "death education" in school. A task for school curriculum was suggested on how to deal with "death education" centering around home economics which deals with human life from birth to death.Language: ja
",
