abstract="The purpose of this research is to examine the risk management of violence against nursing staffs by inpatients in the psychiatry closing ward. A method of study was to have an interview with 10 nursing staffs. Data were analyzed qualitatively. Consequently, four situations of violence against nursing staffs by inpatients in the psychiatry closing ward were definite : <Nursing staffs received the violence from inpatients when they came into the patient's personal space suddenly.>, <Nursing staffs received the violence from inpatient incoherently>, and<Nursing staffs received the violence from inpatient when they were attempting to change the patient's behavior.>, <Nursing staffs received the violence from symptoms which inpatients had>. About clinical judgment of nursing staffs received the violence from inpatient, nursing staffs didn't analyze inpatient's problems based on knowledge such as observed information. Nursing staffs judged from standards of a prejudice and a small number of staffs. Nursing staffs had negative feelings such as fear and anger when received the violence from inpatient. And the nurse-patient relationship changed in quality, motivations for inpatient care fell. On the other hand nursing staffs considered next countermeasures and felt keenly the immaturity of own judgment for receiving the violence from inpatients.<p />",
