abstract="The purpose of this study was to ascertain the existence of gender differences in date violence recognition among young unmarried males and females. The survey included 377 out of 850 unmarried individuals between the ages of 16 and 25 (return rate : 52.5%, effective response rate : 80.9%). From the results concerning recognition of date violence among the respondents, 3 factors were extracted : &quot;violence to control obedience&quot;; &quot;physical/psychological violence&quot;; and &quot;sexual violence&quot;. Recognition of &quot;physical/psychological violence&quot; was the highest of the 3 factors among both males and females, followed by &quot;sexual violence&quot;, and lastly by &quot;violence to control obedience&quot; as the lowest. There were no statistically significant differences between the content scores of males and females in the three general categorical factors cited above, although there were statistically significant differences in some of the specific items within those categories.<p />",
