abstract="<p>The three most important pillars on which public health is maintained, in my opinion, are science, altruism and activism. Science tells us how many and who are having a problem of interest, and what causes it and under what mechanisms to finally let us know what the best measures to control it. Thus, for example, is having the knowledge necessary for the eradication of smallpox, the dramatic reduction in deaths from tuberculosis or the human immunodeficiency virus, among other great achievements. But science can not alone, is also needed for altruism, understood as the motivation and desire to help each actor leads to health to take responsibility for another, and activism, which makes the knowledge comes to be translated into concrete actions. So are the three pillars of this number RPMESP dedicated to violence and addiction, is strengthening and encouraging, helping to more effective actions are used to control these health problems.</p> <p>Language: es</p>",
