abstract="Abstract A catastrophe model of the perception of successive bistable figures is proposed. A modelling study which utilized Fisher's perceptual task, together with Spielberger's Test Anxiety Inventory (TAI) and Kuhl's Action Control Scale (ACS), indicated an interaction between emotionality and action orientation upon ?catastrophic? perception. Kuhl's theory of the functional meaning of emotions is considered as a possible explanation for the results.<p />",
