abstract="A modified form of the Masson disk was used in an investigation of the relation between the fluctuation of sensation of liminal visual stimuli and the amount of eye movement. "Few reliable differences in means… were obtained, but nevertheless certain persistent effects occurred. These were: ( a) The introduction of unlimited eye-movement caused an increase in the average period of sensibility when compared with the situation where no eye-movement was used. The use of limited eye-movement tended to show the opposite effect. ( b) The introduction of eye-movement of either type caused a decrease in the average period of insensibility… ." It was found that with 4 of the 5 subjects the relation between the ratio of the mean sensible to the mean insensible period and the intensity of the stimulus could be expressed by a simple exponential equation in which both constants varied from subject to subject.
