abstract="We evaluated the effectiveness of a child abuse protocol and in what extent suspicions of child abuse were reported in the Wilhelmina Children Hospital (WCH) in Utrecht. We also evaluated the route of care during and after treatment in the WCH. Retrospectively we evaluated 117 children who were referred to the WCH because of (a suspicion of) child abuse and divided the reported cases in mild, moderate and severe abuse. Most of the children were girls younger than eight years of age and most referrals concerned sexual and physical abuse. Abused children have to wait a mean time of two months for out clinic treatment. We emphasize the importance of attention for the issue of child abuse and plead for a more connecting circuit of care. <p>Language: nl</p>",
