abstract="In this part, comparisons are presented between predicted and experimental plume characteristics in terms of plume envelope and centre-line temperatures of venting flames during full-scale flashover fires. Window cracking times and heat transfer from the external plume are discussed in relation to the possibility of a secondary fire. Surface and line approximations are developed to represent the change in the external plume temperature with height, width and depth within the plume above the window opening.<p />",
