abstract="A simple accurate method to compute emissivities and absorptivities of isothermal, homogeneous mixtures of soot, CO2 and H2O is provided. Emissivities and absorptivities so calculated are shown to be in good agreement with detailed spectral calculations and with available experimental data. The results presented lead to the conclusion that, for homogeneous, isothermal mixtures of combustion products, spectral calculations are unnecessary. The method provided in this paper is just as accurate and, being much simpler to execute, more attractive than the spectral calculations.<p />",
