abstract="This survey examined sleep health and driver safety knowledge. A 42-question survey was mailed to 10000 respondents (aged 18-64 years) randomly selected from the NSW electoral roll. Respondents were divided into younger (18- 24 years) and older groups (25-64 years). Overall, 3304 people (56.9 per cent female; mean age of 35.5 years) responded (younger 30.6 per cent; older 40.5 per cent). Data was analysed by age and gender. Five key questions relating to driver safety and fatigue were examined to assess driver safety knowledge. Younger males (18-24 years) were the least well informed with young females (25-30 years) most informed. Males were generally better on specific knowledge whilst females had more knowledge on the combination of sleep/health and driver knowledge. This survey emphasises the need to continue to target young males in relation to driver safety issues.<p />",
